1. Bee's can live in a lot of places

2. Buzz

A bees buzz is a sound made by their wings which beat around 11,400 a minute

3. How Many wings?

Bees have 4 wings not 2, when flying the wings hook together to form a single pair of wings and unhook when not in flight

4. Death of a Queen

If a Queen bee dies the worker bee's can create a new queen by feeding a larvae royal jelly

5. Pollination

Around 90% of wild plants and 75% of leading global crops depend on pollinators like bee's meaning that 1 in every 3 mouthfuls of food requires a pollinator like bee's

6. Not a lot of Honey

The average bee only makes 1/12 of a teaspoon of honey in it's lifetime

7. Dancing

Honey Bee's have an awesome dance called the waggle dance which lets other bee's know where the best food is.

8. Speed and Range

A honey bee can fly as far as 6 miles from it's hive and up to 15mph

9. Stinky feet

Bumblebee's use the scent from their feet to find their family. It also lets them avoid flowers that have already been pollinated by other bumblebee's.

10. Bee's need our help

The Bee population worldwide is struggling due to increased pesticide use. Where possible try using natural weed killers at home. Maybe set up a rock pool with some water at home so the bee's can have a drink whilst out at work, or Maybe try creating a Bee Hotel in your garden.

You could also plant bee friendly flowers in spring like British wildflowers which won't only look amazing in your garden but will help bee's a lot.
